Fallout New Vegas New Lands
Some players argue whether Fallout 3 is better than New Vegas. Well, why not combine the best of both worlds? "Tale of Two Wastelands" is one of the most impressive mods available for New Vegas, combining Fallout 3 and New Vegas into one game.

Using the GECK cursor to navigate your landscape will generate new cells if your brush accidentally raises terrain or you place an object out of bounds, and because the GECK doesn't warn you of this or indicate it in any way, the only way to find out what you've done is to use FNVEdit. The GECK chokes on boarder regions if they are flat, for whatever reason, so ensuring that you have some kind of height variation along the edges of your map is also important.
That economic power was one of the key factors in the transformation of society between 2241 and 2281. As survival ceased being a major concern for the vast majority of NCR citizens, the problem of collective welfare has been largely superseded by concerns about individual prosperity. People providing services free of charge are now the exception, rather than the rule, with skilled workers routinely charging for their services, from tailors to surgeons. Moreover, after over 80 years of scavenging, the wastelands of New California have been largely picked clean of salvageable goods. NCR citizens who can still make a living exclusively by scavenging and hunting are an uncommon sight. The combination of these cultural and economic factors led to the rebirth of wage labor: Most citizens have to seek an employer at a mill, factory or farm and work to earn their keep and earn money necessary to survive.[Non-game 2] But these jobs are easy to find in one of the many mills and farms in New California.
During the conflict with the Brotherhood, the Republic's gold reserves out in the frontier were raided by the Brotherhood to the point where the NCR was forced to stop minting new gold coins so as to put an end to the raids completely, indirectly resulting in Republic paper money no longer being properly backed with gold. NCR citizens panicked and rushed to reclaim the listed face value of currency from NCR's remaining gold reserves. Since the NCR was unable to realize these withdrawals, particularly towards the frontier, faith in their currency considerably dropped. In order to contain the financial fallout from the inevitable inflation to come, the NCR government abandoned the gold standard and established fiat currency, not payable in specie.[Non-game 7] Since then, many wastelanders lost faith in it as a medium of worth, both as a result of it not being backed by anything but the government's word and the inevitable inflation.[Non-game 8] In response to the loss of faith, merchant consortiums of the Hub re-established their own currency, the venerable bottle cap, backing it with water (exchanging a standardized measure of water for caps).[Non-game 9][Non-game 10]
Subordinated to the president and the Congress, the military of the Republic is one of its most distinguishing elements. The core component, the NCR Army, has thousands of servicemen, either volunteers or draftees, organized into divisions and battalions, equipped with standardized weapons and armor, and with varying degrees of training and competence. They are the proverbial sledgehammer, a tool used to crush enemies of the Republic and build order in the lands under its control, and a shield, protecting it from harm that may come from its numerous enemies, such as the Caesar's Legion. Supported by the industrial might of the Republic and unique technologies reclaimed from the wasteland (like Vertibirds confiscated from the Enclave), they are the foundation of the security policy of the Republic. On the civilian side of the spectrum lie marshals and police formations, responsible for enforcing the law of the Republic within the territory of the NCR.
Many people in the western wastelands have mixed feelings about the NCR. Some people strongly support the Republic's goals of spreading democracy and the rule of law, and others vehemently oppose their methods of "controlling" everything they come into contact with. With wastelanders who were used to having no more than a mayor or sheriff now suddenly being part of a complex political structure and having to pay taxes, some view it as a loss of the frontier lifestyles that once defined them. As the NCR's power and territory grew, it made progressively stronger enemies who would test the resolve of the Republic.
After the death of President Tandi, her successors would gradually change the direction of the NCR. Rapidly expanding the Republic's borders in every direction in a more imperialistic fashion, they sacrificed some of the NCR's principles and moral high ground in the process. Tribals that once revered the "Great Mother" began to become "domesticated" as the nation sweeps through tribal lands. Under President Aaron Kimball, the NCR's expansion has led it to the Mojave Wasteland, where it would encounter the impressive city of New Vegas, and the even more promising Hoover Dam. However, it would also encounter its greatest enemy to date, Caesar's Legion, across the Colorado River.
In 1990, special legislation supported by the Nevada congressional delegation, changed the status of the Red Rock Recreation Lands to a National Conservation Area, the seventh to be designated nationally. This legislation provides the funding to protect and improve the area. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is enjoyed by the local population as well as visitors from the United States and many foreign countries. Two million visitors each year enjoy the spectacular desert landscape, climbing and hiking opportunities, and interpretive programs sponsored by the BLM.
The BLM is the largest administrator of public lands in the West. It adheres to the policy of multiple use, thereby providing recreational opportunities, protection for cultural sites, and the management of natural resources, including wildlife.
Student filming projects do not require a filming permit as long as the activity would not adversely impact public lands. Students need to submit a proposal in writing, with verification from the educational institution that it is a required project.
SRP Stipulations: Special Recreation Permit stipulations are specific responsibilities and conditions to meet management goals and objectives and to protect lands and resources and the public interest. The first sixteen General Terms are on the back of the SRP application, and supplemental stipulations are issued depending on the type of activity. Other stipulations will be issued following the interdisciplinary review of the proposed activity which are specific to your activity or event. You must comply with all stipulations in your approved Special Recreation Permit.
Bonding: BLM may require you to submit a payment bond, cash or surety deposit, or other financial guarantee in an amount sufficient to cover your fees or defray the costs of restoration and rehabilitation of the lands affected by the permitted use. BLM will return the bonds and financial guarantees when you have complied with all permit stipulations. BLM may waive the bonding requirement if we find that your activity will not cause appreciable environmental degradation or risk to human health and safety.
Tale of Two Wastelands is a total conversion project that seamlessly merges Fallout 3 and its DLC into Fallout: New Vegas, allowing both games to be played in a single playthrough. It upgrades Fallout 3's mechanics to those of FNV, while balancing both games to feel like you're playing one full game (instead of two different games using the same character).
Epic Game Store (EGS): Make sure that the installer is pointing at the "Fallout 3 GOTY English" folder inside the fallout3 folder created by the EGS install. Both the Bethesda.net and German censored versions are not supported, due to containing altered files. Unfortunately this means that it will not work, even if the language is changed to English in the German version of the game.
Tale of Two Wastelands is a total conversion project that seamlessly merges Fallout 3 and its DLC into Fallout: New Vegas, allowing both games to be played in a single playthrough. It upgrades Fallout 3's mechanics to those of FNV without compromising the feel and balance of the original.
Tale of Two Wastelands includes a large custom created Union Station, where you can take a train ride from DC to the Mojave. This train station is in a new DC worldspace called Columbus Circle. To get back to the Mojave, use the Union Station located in Freeside.
DO NOT USE CONSOLE COMMANDS OR OUTDATED TRAVEL MODS TO CHANGE WASTELANDS. Always use the TTW train stations or any (up-to-date) mod that offers a safe travel option. This is because TTW needs to set specific variables and quests (when changing wastelands) for the game to run properly. If you "cheat", you will break your game.
The long answer is that Tale of Two Wastelands doesn't just slap Fallout New Vegas things into Fallout 3 and calls it a day. It has seen more than 10 years of development, testing, tweaking and balancing. A lot of time was dedicated to make playing in TTW's Capital Wasteland (CW) to be a similar experience as to playing vanilla Fallout 3.
The TTW team understands that this is a "Love it" or "Hate it" change from previous versions, but it was more than necessary to make both wastelands feel like they are part of the same game and universe. Which is the main objective of TTW, that everything in it feels like it's all one giant game, instead of two games merged together.
Some of these will not work with the Tale of Two Wastelands mod, and many of them have other files that are required to run properly. Make sure you read the full mod description and that you can meet the requirements before installing a mod. If done incorrectly or incompletely, they can break your game. Also, unless you are an experienced modder, your game will be much more stable if you add one mod at a time and verify that your game still runs. NVSE and the 4GB Patch are absolutely vital.
